Adrien Broner has publicly challenged WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia, arguing that a fight between them would be a major financial success. The 36-year-old former four-division champion is seeking a high-profile opponent to revive his career after more than a year of inactivity.
In a video posted to social media, Broner made a direct appeal to Garcia, focusing on the potential purse and his own championship ambitions. He claimed he would offer a more lucrative fight than Garcia’s other options. “I know you’re getting nice fights, but you ain’t going to get as much money as you will fighting me. You’re about that money, right? Fight me. I’ll take your belt. Do he got a belt? Whatever he got, I’ll take it,” Broner stated.
Broner also drew a sharp contrast between their professional records, specifically highlighting Garcia’s knockout loss while insisting on his own resilience against top-tier opposition throughout his career. He stated plainly, “You got knocked out. You got stopped. I ain’t never got stopped, not ever against no matter who I fought.”
The challenge also contained a personal element. Broner suggested a past friendship had soured, claiming he had supported Garcia through difficult times. “You got knocked out… I want to fight you next… I’ll take yo belt. When you was going through your sh*t, you was calling me, and I was answering everytime,” he said. He further accused Garcia of failing to offer help when he was in a position to do so. “If you felt that way about me, you would have came and picked me up. You had the money, right? You didn’t come and pick me up.”
Broner has not competed since a unanimous decision victory over Blair Cobbs in June 2025. This public call-out places pressure on Garcia’s camp to respond, though it remains unclear if the current champion holds any interest in the matchup. For Broner, securing the fight would represent a significant opportunity to reclaim a world title and return to the sport’s top level.
