Madison International Speedway owner Gregg McKarns will take over ownership of the Big 8 Series, bringing his involvement with the series full circle as it enters its next chapter.
Madison International Speedway owner Gregg McKarns has taken over ownership of the Big 8 Late Model Series. McKarns originally helped co-found the regional racing series in 2004 alongside the Deery family and served as Series Director until 2014 before returning to assume full ownership.
As part of the transition, McKarns has appointed Alex Gilhart as the new Series Director. An informational meeting for teams is scheduled for January 9, 2027, at the Midwest Racers' Expo in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, ahead of the 2027 season.
