The Story in 60 Seconds

Brandon Figueroa's bout against Tomoki Kameda in Las Vegas has been officially canceled after Figueroa became very ill. The cancellation follows a troubled weigh-in where Figueroa was stripped of his WBA featherweight championship after failing to make the required weight limit.

Figueroa initially weighed in at 127.4 pounds, which was 1.4 pounds over the featherweight limit, and failed to cut any weight during a one-hour grace period. Although the fight was initially slated to proceed with the title only available to Kameda, Figueroa's subsequent illness forced the bout to be called off completely.
