WBC revealed they have approved middleweight champion Carlos Adames’ petition to appear in an over-the-weight bout on Tuesday, November 1

WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames has received approval from the WBC to participate in an over-the-weight bout. The Dominican fighter recently signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Zuffa Boxing and expressed his desire to move up to the super middleweight division. The sanctioning body confirmed it will review his future obligations as champion at its annual convention in November.
The decision impacts the middleweight division, where Adames had previously been ordered on September 22 to face mandatory challenger Meiirim Nursultanov. Nursultanov's scheduled September 19 interim title fight against Ramos Jr. fell through after Ramos was hospitalized, meaning Nursultanov must now wait longer for his title opportunity.
