Carlos Adames can lose his WBC middleweight title on November 17 without giving his opponent a chance to win it. The sanctioning body has approved his request to fight above

Carlos Adames has received WBC approval to compete in a non-title fight above 160 pounds on November 17, but a defeat will result in his middleweight championship being declared vacant. Although his opponent is yet to be announced, Adames recently signed with Zuffa Boxing and requested the exemption to pursue opportunities outside the division.
The ruling temporarily halts mandatory challenger Meiirim Nursultanov's ordered title fight against Adames. Under the WBC directive, Adames must face Nursultanov following the bout, with the winner ordered to fight interim champion Jesus Ramos, though a loss by Adames would leave the belt vacant for another contender.
