Ex-boxing world champ Billy Joe Saunders spared jail after using beer bottle as weapon in violent baby shower punch-up

Former boxing world champion Billy Joe Saunders has avoided jail time following his involvement in a violent mass brawl at a baby shower. Warwick Crown Court heard that the 37-year-old fighter used a beer bottle as a weapon on three occasions during the incident at Poppy's Club in Bulkington, which took place on November 27, 2021.

Saunders was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, after being identified as one of nine men involved in the altercation. In mitigation, his defense stated that his life had spiraled after suffering a career-ending broken eye socket against Canelo Alvarez in May 2021.
