Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition fight against Mike Zambidis, scheduled for this weekend in Greece, has been cancelled. The cancellation is the direct result of a legal injunction sought by a promoter who claims Mayweather has pre-existing contractual obligations to face other opponents.
The dispute centers on claims from the company CSI, which alleges it holds exclusive agreements for Mayweather to fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition and then face Manny Pacquiao in a professional rematch. CSI argued in federal court that Mayweather staging the Zambidis bout with another promoter would constitute a breach of those contracts. A judge’s ruling on an injunction preventing the fight has effectively forced the cancellation just days before the scheduled June 27 event in Athens.
There is currently no indication that the fight with Zambidis will be rescheduled. Mayweather’s lucrative exhibition tour appears to be on indefinite hold until the legal conflict with CSI is resolved.
This legal entanglement has wider consequences for Mayweather’s comeback plans. According to veteran boxing reporter Dan Rafael, the long-discussed rematch with Manny Pacquiao has been pushed back from its planned 2026 date. If that fight proceeds at all, it is now not expected to happen before January 2027. The undefeated former champion has built a significant post-retirement career on his global drawing power, but his immediate future is now dictated by courtroom proceedings rather than in-ring negotiations. The outcomes of this legal battle will determine if and when he returns to the ring.
