Hamzah Sheeraz vacates WBO title after Janibek purse bid

Hamzah Sheeraz has vacated his WBO super middleweight title just two days after Queensberry Promotions won the purse bid for a fight against Janibek Alimkhanuly. The WBO officially confirmed the decision after Sheeraz and his team notified the governing body. Sheeraz, who holds an undefeated record of 24-0-1, had previously won the vacant belt in May 2025 and defended it once in July.

Queensberry won the promotional rights for the bout with a bid of just over one million dollars, which would have earned Sheeraz approximately $750,000. Alimkhanuly, who has not fought since April 2025, is now expected to fight for the vacant title. He currently holds the WBO's number one contender spot at super middleweight.
