Moses Itauma will stay with Ben Davison after his first loss, with the heavyweight set to return in January and rebuild his career.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed heavyweight Moses Itauma will keep trainer Ben Davison following his first career defeat. Itauma is scheduled to return to the ring in January, though an opponent has not been named. The decision follows weeks of speculation about his training team after Itauma was stopped in the ninth round by Filip Hrgovic on August 29 at the O2 Arena in an IBF title bout.
Warren rejected giving Davison sole blame for the loss, calling it a shared setback across the entire team. Instead of granting Itauma an immediate rematch against Hrgovic, Warren plans a slower rebuild with one or two lower-level fights before testing the 21-year-old at top contention again.
