Murat Gassiev hits back at WBA regarding plans for Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury

Reigning WBA heavyweight titleholder Murat Gassiev has criticized the sanctioning body following reports that a vacant WBA "super" title could be awarded during the planned December 11 bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in Cardiff. Gassiev stated on social media that neither he nor his team was consulted prior to the reports, expressing readiness to fight either Fury or Joshua in the ring.

Gassiev's representatives, including co-promoter and legal counsel John Wirt, filed a formal objection demanding clarification from the WBA. Gassiev, who became the organization's sole heavyweight titlist after Oleksandr Usyk vacated his titles, previously defended the belt against Peter Kadiru in July.
