Early talks are underway for a super featherweight unification fight between champions Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster. The potential bout, reported to be targeted for later this year, would unify the WBC, IBF, and WBO titles at 130 pounds.
The matchup presents a classic clash of styles. Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) is a slick, defensive counterpuncher who relies on footwork and timing to control opponents. Since regaining the WBC title from Robson Conceição in November 2024, he has recorded successful defences against Stephen Fulton and Mark Magsayo, demonstrating his ability to frustrate aggressive fighters. In contrast, Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) is known for his relentless pressure and high-volume punching from awkward angles. His unusually high work rate consistently forces opponents into difficult exchanges. This offensive style was on display when he stopped Eduardo Nunez in February to win the IBF belt, following a no-contest against Charly Suarez in May 2025.
The bout would be one of the strongest that can be made in the division. According to boxing reporter Abraham Gonzalez, who first reported the discussions, the only fights that might take precedence are major opportunities against Vasiliy Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson. However, neither appears likely at present. Lomachenko has not competed since May 2024, while Stevenson currently campaigns at light welterweight and would need to move back down in weight. If those alternatives do not materialise, a contest between Foster and Navarrete would move forward as the most logical and compelling fight for both champions, with the winner positioned as the undisputed number one in the super featherweight class.
