WBC welterweight world champion Ryan Garcia has confirmed that a "last chance" fight offer has been sent to rival Isaac Cruz. The 28-year-old Garcia is looking to return to the ring later this year following a quick second-round stoppage victory over mandatory challenger Conor Benn earlier this month. Cruz, who recently retained his WBC interim super-lightweight title by stopping Nestor Bravo, has publicly expressed his desire to face Garcia next.
Garcia stated on social media that he has instructed his attorney to send the offer, warning that this is the final time he will attempt to make the fight happen. If the bout is finalized, Cruz would need to move up to the 147-pound welterweight division. Should Garcia fight and win, talks are reportedly progressing for a unification bout against WBO champion Teofimo Lopez in Las Vegas early next year.
