Ryan Garcia Threatens Legal Action Against Bill Haney Over New Drug Claims

The boxer has responded to fresh allegations from Devin Haney's father concerning his failed drug tests following their overturned 2024 bout, escalating their public dispute.

Ryan Garcia has threatened legal action against Bill Haney following new allegations of performance-enhancing drug use. The threat comes after Haney claimed Garcia had more than Ostarine in his system following the overturned April 2024 fight against his son, Devin Haney.

The dispute continues the fallout from Garcia’s majority decision victory over Devin Haney, which was later changed to a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for the banned substance Ostarine. Bill Haney escalated the feud with a public claim on social media, stating: “PED boy had more in his system than just Ostarine 😤”. This accusation suggests further, unconfirmed substances were found.

Garcia immediately rejected the allegation and announced his intention to take the matter to court. Responding directly to Bill Haney, Garcia wrote: “Ima hit you with a lawsuit, Mr Haney,”. He added his reasoning was for “one being a bitch and one for constant lying on me It’s been confirmed and documented I was suspended for not disclosing supplements I was using. It’s a fact that the amount I had was not enough to benefit me. HOLD THAT L BITCH”.

Garcia’s position has consistently been that the positive test resulted from contaminated supplements and that the levels detected were too low to provide any performance benefit. Devin Haney entered the exchange to dismiss this explanation. “The only reason he needed his supplements tested was because he failed a drug test for PEDS ‘gang’” said Haney, reinforcing his camp’s view that the failed test is the defining fact of the encounter.

This war of words ensures the rivalry between the two fighters remains intense. Garcia has never accepted the no-contest ruling and continues to claim a legitimate victory, while the Haneys use the failed drug tests to invalidate his performance. While it is not yet clear if Garcia will proceed with a lawsuit, the public threats mark a significant development in their ongoing conflict.
