Some inside Zuffa Boxing actually welcomed Shakur Stevenson walking away. When the planned Devin Haney matchup collapsed, the company found itself staring down massive financial Shakur Stevenson Departure Brings Relief Within Zuffa @ Boxing News 24…

Boxing insider Dan Rafael reported that several figures within Zuffa Boxing and parent company TKO welcomed Shakur Stevenson's departure from the promotion. The split followed the collapse of a planned matchup against Devin Haney, which would have required over $20 million for the main event purses alone. Rafael stated that Zuffa avoided significant financial obligations after the deal fell through without an alternative blockbuster headliner.
Broadcast conflicts further complicated the partnership, as US rights for the proposed Haney bout belonged to DAZN rather than Zuffa partner Paramount+. Boxing News 24 noted that Stevenson's high financial demands and defensive fighting style posed commercial challenges, making his exit a financially prudent move for the company.
