Australian boxer Tim Tszyu has announced he will challenge WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara for the 160-pound title. The bout is expected to take place in Australia in late November. Tszyu is targeting the belt to become a two-weight world champion, aiming to join Jeff Fenech and Liam Paro as the only Australians to accomplish the feat.
The 31-year-old previously held the WBO super-welterweight title before moving up to middleweight, where he secured a unanimous decision victory over Errol Spence Jr earlier this year. His upcoming opponent, 43-year-old Lara, is currently boxing's oldest reigning world champion and notably took Canelo Alvarez to a split decision in 2014.
