Tyson Fury watched bare-knuckle heavyweight champion Gustavo Trujillo knock out British challenger Mick Terrill in Miami before wrapping the title belt around the Cuban star’s waist. Trujillo secured his ninth straight knockout, leaving Fury teasing a potential bare-knuckle debut.
The James L. Knight Center erupted on Saturday night as Gustavo Trujillo delivered another ruthless finish. British challenger Mick Terrill stepped in on short notice to contest the BKB Heavyweight World Championship. Terrill attempted to press the pace and close the distance early in the fight. However, Trujillo found the decisive opening late in the second round. A devastating shot straight to the liver dropped the former champion instantly. The referee called off the contest at 2:29 of the round.
It was pure destruction.
Trujillo preserved one of the most impressive records in bare-knuckle combat. Nine appearances in the Trigon have now produced nine victories and nine knockouts. Terrill entered the ring boasting an 11-2 bare-knuckle record with all 11 wins coming by knockout, promising a wild heavyweight shootout. But Trujillo stood firm. The Cuban-born power puncher is also undefeated in professional boxing, raising his stock even higher.
Fury made the trip to Miami specifically to support Terrill. The former two-time heavyweight world champion greeted his fellow countryman before the fight and visited Trujillo in the locker room. However, the evening took a dramatic turn when Terrill collapsed. Fury stepped directly into the Trigon after the stoppage, showing massive respect to the victorious champion by placing the belt around his waist.
The broadcast team immediately questioned the 38-year-old Brit about a potential crossover into bare-knuckle fighting.
He said: “I’ve retired more times than anyone in history”
When asked directly if competing without boxing gloves could lure him back into action, Fury gave a classic response.
He stated: “I’m a prize fighter. Show me the money.”
That blunt admission leaves the door firmly open for future mega-fights. Trujillo reigns supreme as BKB heavyweight king, but Fury’s willingness to follow the cash will keep combat sports fans buzzing.
