The WBO has officially rejected Denzel Bentley's request to make a voluntary title defense against Shane Mosley Jnr. Bentley had been ordered to face mandatory challenger Yoenli Hernandez, but sought an exemption after signing with Zuffa Boxing. WBO president Gustavo Olivieri announced that Bentley must confirm negotiations with Hernandez if he intends to keep his belt.

A purse bid for Bentley against Hernandez was previously won by Hernandez's promoters with an offer of $200,000. If Bentley goes ahead with his scheduled November 7 bout against Mosley as planned, he will reportedly be forced to vacate or be stripped of the WBO title.
