Yoenli Hernandez will face Francisco Daniel Veron in a middleweight co-main event this Saturday night in Las Vegas. The Cuban contender aims to punish Veron following vocal criticisms of his fighting style on the Teofimo Lopez versus Rolando Romero pay-per-view card.
Hernandez enters the contest with physical advantages in height, reach, and stature. The heavier Cuban possesses enough power to deter Veron from attempting dangerous attacks at close range. However, Hernandez views his opponent’s pre-fight remarks as a personal challenge that demands a firm response. Both fighters attended Wednesday’s media workout in Las Vegas, where Hernandez insisted that his opponent must answer for his verbal jabs. He stated: “This is the time to put up or shut up. If he doesn’t wanna stand on what he’s said about my style, he’ll have to pay in the ring.”
The pressure remains squarely on Hernandez to validate his confident words inside the ring.
He appears to be the strongest presence on an otherwise thin undercard, yet Veron offers a genuine opportunity to demonstrate his readiness for world-level contests. Addressing the rivalry directly, Hernandez said: “You’re not only gonna see what I’m made of, but I’m gonna humble Veron. He’s been talking trash, and now he’s gonna see what happens.”
Veron insists physical differences will not dictate the outcome of the bout. The Argentine intends to rely on sharp movement and hand speed to counter his opponent’s bulkier build. Remaining directly in front of the Cuban would allow Hernandez to impose his physical strength, making dynamic movement essential after every combination. Veron dismissed the physical threat, stating: “His reach and height will not affect me. He’s a little bulkier than me, but it can work against him. I feel that I might be able to use speed to my advantage.”
Rather than exchanging insults during the workout, Veron leaned on national tradition and personal courage ahead of Saturday’s bout. He said: “Everyone is gonna see what I bring. I have a lot of courage. Argentinian boxers are among the best in the world, and I’m coming to prove it.”
A victory in Las Vegas would position the winner for significantly bigger bouts, while the defeated fighter will face an uphill struggle to re-establish momentum in the middleweight division.
