Matthew Hayden has teed off at Australian selectors George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide in an explosive rant following the shock decision to add Nic Maddinson to the Test squad for their series against South Africa.
Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden strongly criticized national selectors George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide over the recall of Nic Maddinson to the Test squad for the upcoming series in South Africa. Hayden accused selectors of disrespecting first-class cricket by picking players with mediocre batting records, arguing that Maddinson's career numbers do not justify a recall.
Co-host Greg Blewett reported that Mitchell Marsh was originally the top choice to replace injured batter Josh Inglis before opting out due to the impending birth of his child. Maddinson's call-up alongside Sam Harper follows an injury crisis, with Cameron Green also doubtful for the opening Test in Durban.
