The off-spinner raised concerns over bowling quality and tactical decisions after West Indies chased down 250 in the second T20I at Ranchi.
Ravichandran Ashwin expressed serious concerns regarding India's bowling depth and development following their defeat to West Indies in Ranchi. West Indies successfully chased down a 250-run target in 18.3 overs, leveling the five-match T20I series at 1-1 despite India posting 249 for 5 behind Sanju Samson's 82 runs. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin argued that India lacks enough quality bowlers and must focus more on grooming players for difficult match conditions.
Ashwin highlighted that former captains benefited heavily from Jasprit Bumrah's unique defensive skillset and varied deliveries, which masked broader bowling limitations. He also questioned tactical choices made by captain Shreyas Iyer, noting that introducing Shivam Dube immediately following the powerplay was flawed and Kuldeep Yadav should have bowled earlier after Mayank Yadav's early breakthroughs.
