Former Zimbabwe batter admits club's financial situation is a major factor in his departure

Grant Flower has left his role as Sussex batting coach after five seasons to join Surrey as an assistant coach starting in November. Flower stated that Sussex's ongoing financial challenges played a significant role in his decision to move. At Surrey, he will work alongside head coach Gareth Batty ahead of the 2027 County Championship campaign.
Flower's departure contributes to a broader talent drain at Sussex, who were placed in special measures by the ECB following a £1.33 million operating loss. Outgoing head coach Paul Farbrace is also departing to become director of cricket at Lancashire, alongside the exits of players Henry Crocombe and John Simpson.
