Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra has been called up to India's squad as cover for Ishan Kishan ahead of the second T20I against New Zealand. The BCCI confirmed Kishan suffered a low-grade right adductor strain during the series opener and will miss Saturday's match in Christchurch. Kushagra, who is with the India A team in New Zealand, will link up with the senior squad while the medical staff monitors Kishan.
India currently holds a 1-0 series lead following a four-wicket victory in the opening match. Sanju Samson scored 67 and Naman Dhir hit an unbeaten 42 to successfully chase New Zealand's total of 225/4. Kishan remains part of the squad for the upcoming ODI series.
