Australia's batters n have struggled to build partnerships across recent Test series, with only individual performances standing out amid a broader collapse in form.
Travis Head has addressed Australia's recent batting collapses, hoping the team can find a "collective batting day" following Test struggles against Bangladesh and South Africa. Australia's batting lineup has leaned on solo performances, such as Head's 121 at Gqeberha and Cameron Green's hundred against Bangladesh, rather than cohesive partnerships. Australia recently suffered an innings-and-31-run defeat to South Africa after being bowled out for 99 in their first innings.
Head noted that while building major partnerships was traditionally an Australian strength, the team has struggled to replicate it recently. Since David Warner's retirement in 2024, Australia has managed only 11 century stands for wickets one through six. Head also acknowledged the mounting pressure on teammate Marnus Labuschagne following his dismissal to Simon Harmer.
