‘I don’t think I can be compared to him’ – Liam Dawson on England veteran Adil Rashid

England spinner Liam Dawson stated he cannot be compared to veteran Adil Rashid after replacing him during the Pakistan tri-series. Dawson, who has played 13 ODIs, was selected over Rashid for tactical reasons in Rawalpindi on October 22, 2026, due to conditions favoring his bowling style. Dawson emphasized that Rashid's 165-ODI record and role make direct comparisons between the two players inaccurate.

Despite England suffering recent losses to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Dawson expressed confidence about the team's direction ahead of next year's World Cup. The 36-year-old also confirmed he has closed the chapter on Test cricket, ruling out reversing his first-class retirement under head coach Stephen Fleming.
