The Story in 60 Seconds

International hockey umpire and technical official Gurinder Singh Sangha has left Japan prior to the conclusion of the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya. Sangha, who served as an umpire manager for the Asian Hockey Federation, departed following multiple complaints of alleged sexual misconduct. He reportedly misbehaved with a Malaysian female official and faced accusations of inappropriate behavior with hotel staff.

The incident follows a previous complaint filed against Sangha by umpire Yogita Pasi during the Hockey India League in January 2025. Pasi had reported inappropriate conduct at a Ranchi hotel, which led Hockey India secretary general Bhola Nath Singh to form a preliminary investigation committee. The new allegations emerge amid wider scrutiny concerning multiple misconduct complaints within Indian hockey.
