The Mumbai off-spinner played two Tests and 31 ODIs for India, and has since taken up coaching roles at various levels

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has appointed former national player Ramesh Powar as a member of the Men’s Selection Committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, screened and interviewed applicants before unanimously recommending Powar for the role. Powar previously served as head coach of the Indian women's team, Mumbai, and Gujarat, as well as bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
The BCCI also acknowledged outgoing chief selector Ajit Agarkar, thanking him for his contributions as his tenure concludes. Agarkar chose not to seek an extension to his term, prompting the BCCI to begin searching for a new chairman of the senior selection committee.
