The former India batter believes Tilak Varma possesses the versatility and skill set to succeed Virat Kohli at number three in ODI cricket.
Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has backed Tilak Varma as a prime candidate to succeed Virat Kohli at number three in ODI cricket. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffer highlighted the left-hander's versatility across multiple batting positions, strong first-class average of around 55, and adaptability to fit into all three formats as key reasons he can fill the void.
Kohli has indicated the 2027 World Cup will mark his final 50-over tournament for India before concluding his international career. In addition to discussing Varma's readiness, Jaffer also noted the development of young batter Abhishek Sharma, praising his increased maturity and improved decision-making approach at the crease.
