Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has questioned India's bowling decisions during their six-wicket defeat to the West Indies in the second T20I in Ranchi.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has questioned India's bowling tactics following a six-wicket defeat against the West Indies in Ranchi. West Indies successfully chased down a target of 250 by reaching 252/4 in 19.2 overs, completing their highest successful T20I chase against India to level the five-match series 1-1. Gavaskar criticized the decision to bowl Axar Patel in the 18th over instead of pace bowlers Arshdeep Singh or Mayank Yadav.
Speaking to JioStar, Gavaskar argued that Mayank Yadav, who had claimed three early wickets, could have applied critical pressure by taking another wicket. He also questioned giving Shivam Dube the ball during the ninth over instead of wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. The West Indies' run chase was anchored by a 120-run partnership between Shai Hope, who scored 102 not out, and Sherfane Rutherford, who hit 84.
