The Story in 60 Seconds

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the opening match of the tri-series in Rawalpindi. Salman Agha anchored the hosts with a 90-ball 107 to help post a total of 305 after Sri Lanka's Eshan Malinga claimed 4 for 46. Despite losing their top order cheaply, Sri Lanka mounted a stiff counterattack before Pakistan's fast bowlers triggered a late collapse.

Pavan Rathnayake scored 79 and Janith Liyanage added 60, sharing a 119-run partnership that brought Sri Lanka within sight of victory. However, Pakistan's pace attack, led by Shaheen Afridi's three wickets, took the final five wickets for just 15 runs to bowl out the visitors for 268.
