Scott Boland removed Aiden Markram and David Bedingham in consecutive deliveries before rain ended day one of the second Test at St George's Park.
Scott Boland claimed two wickets in consecutive deliveries to leave South Africa at 20 for 2 before rain ended Day 1 of the second Test at St George's Park in Gqeberha. Boland bowled Aiden Markram for 11 runs before dismissing David Bedingham on the very next ball in his second over. Persistent rain subsequently disrupted the afternoon session, prompting officials to abandon play for the day at 4:15pm with South Africa debutant Marques Ackerman unbeaten on 5.
Boland was selected in Australia's lineup over off-spinner Nathan Lyon due to overhead conditions and forecasts of weather interruptions. South Africa introduced three changes to their starting XI, handing a Test debut to Ackerman, bringing in Matthew Breetzke, and naming Ryan Rickelton as wicketkeeper. Umpire Arno Jacobs also made his Test officiating debut, replacing the ill Chris Gaffney.
