Mitchell Starc claimed his 20th five-wicket haul as South Africa collapsed from 203-1 to 329 all out on day one of the decisive third and final Test against Australia at Newlands.

Mitchell Starc took 6-72 to inspire an Australian fightback as South Africa were bowled out for 329 on day one of the decisive third Test at Newlands. The hosts had reached 203-1 behind Marques Ackerman's 95, Aiden Markram's 78, and David Bedingham's 50 before suffering a major middle-order collapse.
Marco Jansen made 52 and Ryan Rickelton added 42 in a 95-run seventh-wicket stand to stabilize South Africa, but Starc struck decisively with the second new ball. Starc took four wickets in six deliveries to skittle the tail, leaving the series decider finely poised heading into day two.
