Steve Smith passed his concussion assessment and was back at first slip on day five of the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban.
Steve Smith was cleared of concussion and resumed fielding duties on day five of the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban. The Australian batter took his position at first slip from the opening delivery on October 13, 2026, after completing subsequent assessments following a head blow sustained on day four.
Smith was struck on the helmet by a 150.1 km/h Anrich Nortje bouncer during Australia's second innings and was replaced by substitute Michael Neser later that day. His successful return indicates he is expected to remain available for the upcoming second Test in Gqeberha.
