Australia's Steve Smith has been ruled out of the Cape Town Test with a neck complaint, with Josh Inglis shadow-batting on the Test strip confirming the late withdrawal.
Steve Smith has been ruled out of Australia's decisive third Test against South Africa at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town due to a neck complaint. Australian captain Pat Cummins confirmed at the toss that Smith felt a niggle on the morning of the match. Josh Inglis was named in the starting lineup to replace the senior batter.
Smith initially experienced neck discomfort during the second Test in Gqeberha. Australia made four changes in total for the series decider, also welcoming back Cameron Green, Cooper Connolly, and Nathan Lyon, with the three-match series currently level at 1-1.
