Mike Hesson is set to continues as interim Test head coach through the remainder of the current World Test Championship cycle with Pakistan, with a full review scheduled after the 2027 World Cup.
Mike Hesson is set to continue serving as Pakistan's interim Test head coach for the remainder of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Hesson, who was already Pakistan's white-ball coach, took over interim Test coaching duties in September 2026 following the removal of Sarfaraz Ahmed during the tour of England. The arrangement has reportedly been communicated to the playing group, confirming he will also oversee next year's Test series against New Zealand.
A full review of Hesson's association with Pakistan cricket will take place after the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. The PCB confirmed that squad selection remains the responsibility of the selection committee rather than Hesson or Test captain Babar Azam. The coaching clarity comes as Pakistan struggles at the bottom of the WTC 2025-27 standings with just two wins in nine matches.
