Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque was substituted out of the first Test against West Indies in Dhaka after suffering a head injury on day three. Mominul fell face first while attempting a catch at short leg off Joshua Bishop in the 78th over of West Indies' first innings. Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed Mominul displayed signs of concussion, leading to Jaker Ali entering the match as his official concussion substitute.
Jaker made his return to Test cricket after 16 months and came out to bat in Bangladesh's second innings following the dismissal of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Bangladesh struggled to 34 for 4 by tea on the third day, holding a narrow lead of 61 runs.
