“Muh chhupake jao”: Wasim Akram reacts to Razaullah’s hero’s welcome

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has strongly criticized the grand homecoming celebration for 21-year-old Razaullah. Despite Pakistan suffering a 3-0 Test series whitewash against England, around 5,000 people reportedly gathered in Razaullah's hometown to celebrate his individual performance. Akram expressed his shock during a charity event in Manchester, stating that celebrating individual success after a series defeat demonstrates a mindset that accepts mediocrity.

Razaullah made an impressive Test debut at Edgbaston, scoring 81 runs in the second innings and taking four wickets in the match. Pakistan captain Babar Azam admitted after the final Test that he knew very little about the youngster prior to his debut. Akram argued that players should celebrate privately at home rather than hosting public airport celebrations after a heavy team defeat.
