New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the remainder of the T20I series against India due to a right calf injury. The pacer experienced pain during the second match in Christchurch, where scans later confirmed a low-grade tear. Head coach Rob Walter confirmed Ferguson will miss the upcoming T20Is, including the clash at Eden Park, but remains hopeful of his return for the upcoming ODI series.
Ferguson joins fellow fast bowler Matt Henry on the sidelines, who is also recovering from a quadricep tear. Fast bowler Matthew Fisher will remain with the squad as bowling cover instead of rejoining New Zealand A. The injury setbacks come as India holds an unassailable 3-0 series lead following their victory in Wellington.
