PCB Demands Apology from Indian Players as Pakistan Champions Pull Out of WCL 2026
Key Things to Know
  • Pakistan Champions withdrew from WCL 2026 after the PCB refused to grant player clearance without an apology from Indian players.
  • Tournament organizers rejected the PCB's condition demanding a formal apology from the Indian squad.
  • The dispute stems from India Champions boycotting their fixtures against Pakistan during the 2025 season.
The Story in 60 Seconds

The Pakistan Cricket Board has withheld No Objection Certificates from its players, forcing the Pakistan Champions to withdraw completely from the World Championship of Legends 2026. The PCB demanded that Indian players issue a formal apology to the Pakistan squad before clearance would be granted. When tournament organizers refused to enforce this condition, the Shahid Afridi-led team was left unable to compete in the United Arab Emirates.

The demand follows the 2025 edition, during which India Champions boycotted matches against Pakistan Champions due to political friction. As a result of Pakistan's withdrawal from the tournament, scheduled fixtures against Bangladesh Champions, Australia Champions, and India Champions have all been cancelled.
