Kerala works its way back in to the contest thanks to fine spells of off-spin by Jalaj and Vaisakh as the visitor puts a brake on the host’s march

Jharkhand opener Shikhar scored 143 to register the first century of the 92nd Ranji Trophy edition against Kerala at the Keenan Stadium. After opting to bat first, Jharkhand reached 289 for five at stumps on the opening day, driven by Shikhar's significant partnerships at the top of the order.
Jharkhand reached 250 for one following a 163-run stand between Shikhar and Utkarsh Singh, who scored 71. However, Kerala fought back through spinners Vaisakh Chandran and Jalaj Saxena, triggering a middle-order collapse where Jharkhand lost four wickets for just 29 runs before stumps.
