Former Sussex player and head coach Mark Robinson returns to the club as director of cricket.

Mark Robinson has returned to Sussex to take over as director of cricket in a part-time capacity. The 59-year-old previously spent five years playing for Sussex and served a decade as head coach, guiding the club to two County Championship Division One titles and multiple limited-overs trophies. Robinson will maintain his position as director of cricket at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy alongside his new responsibilities at Hove.
The appointment follows the departure of Paul Farbrace, who moved to Lancashire instead of taking the director of cricket post amid severe financial difficulties at Sussex. The club required an emergency bailout from the England and Wales Cricket Board following a £1.3m trading loss in 2025, which led to a 12-point Championship deduction. Sussex acting chief executive Alex Paterson welcomed Robinson's arrival to help rebuild the club.
