Rowles and Bavuma gear up for SA20 season 5 as countdown enters final 100 days

With fewer than 100 days remaining before SA20 Season 5 begins on January 17, 2027, top recruits including Jason Rowles and Temba Bavuma are preparing for the tournament following the October 7 auction. Rowles signed with Joburg Super Kings as the auction's biggest purchase, while Proteas captain Bavuma joined Pretoria Capitals after missing the past two editions. The opening match will feature a rematch between defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.

Other notable signings include Under-23 allrounder Oliver Whitehead joining MI Cape Town, while English allrounder Craig Overton returns to Sunrisers Eastern Cape. To commemorate its fifth edition, the tournament introduced the R50 Frenzy promotion, offering discounted tickets for team openers, playoffs, and the final ahead of general public sales starting November 5, 2026.
