The former chief selector clarifies the selection panel's decisions during his 2012-2016 tenure.
Former India chief selector Sandeep Patil discussed the departures of legendary players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, and Zaheer Khan during his 2012 to 2016 tenure. Speaking on Doordarshan's The Great Indian Cricket Show, Patil explained that all decisions were made collectively by the five-member selection committee with the future of Indian cricket in mind.
Patil emphasized that personal friendships with players could not influence selection decisions. He noted that the committee prioritized the interests of the country, the BCCI, and the national team, which sometimes required making difficult choices regarding veteran cricketers.
