South Africa was struggling at 20-2 at stumps, after the morning session at St. George's Park in Gqeberha was nearly completely lost to the weather.

Rain heavily disrupted day one of the second cricket Test in Gqeberha, leaving South Africa at 20-2 at stumps. Australia won the toss and elected to bowl at St. George's Park, limiting the hosts to just 12.2 overs across a weather-impacted day. Pacer Scott Boland did the damage, claiming two wickets in consecutive deliveries.
Boland bowled Aiden Markram for 11 and dismissed David Bedingham for a golden duck. Debutant Marques Ackerman and captain Temba Bavuma remained unbeaten at the close. Australia leads the three-match series 1-0 following a 214-run victory in Durban, while South Africa made three lineup changes, including the return of pacer Kagiso Rabada.
