South Africa captain Temba Bavuma scored a career-best 179 runs off 334 balls against Australia in Gqeberha, explaining afterward that he tries to emulate Sachin Tendulkar's batting technique. Bavuma noted that due to his height, he aims to replicate Tendulkar's efficient movements rather than taking long strides against the Australian bowling attack.
Bavuma's innings helped rescue South Africa from 110-6 to reach 425-9 declared, with lower-order support from Marco Jansen, who made 85, and Simon Harmer, who scored 82. By stumps on Day 3, Australia had reached 3-1 in response after Nic Maddinson was dismissed for a duck.
