George Russell claimed pole position for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, providing him an opportunity to reduce the championship deficit to Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli. Championship leader Antonelli suffered heavy front-left damage after clipping a wall in Q1, leaving him down in 16th on the starting grid.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc qualified second to secure a front-row start alongside Russell, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri took third. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen struggled in the session, finishing sixth for Ferrari and eighth for Red Bull respectively.
