Aston Martin are ready to explore other engine manufacturer deals if Honda fails to hit a target set for the first Grand Prix of 2027.…

Aston Martin has reportedly issued Honda an ultimatum to make a significant performance leap ahead of the 2027 Formula 1 season. According to a report by AS, the team expects Honda's engine upgrade to allow them to compete for top-10 positions at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. If Honda fails to deliver competitive performance, Aston Martin is prepared to explore other engine manufacturer options.
The team has experienced frustration over horsepower deficits that have left them 10th in the Constructors' Championship despite an impressive Adrian Newey-designed chassis. While Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are confirmed to drive in 2027, the team has reportedly held discussions with Mercedes and Red Bull Powertrains. Despite the tension, Aston Martin and Honda will celebrate Honda's 500th Grand Prix together in Austin.
