Cadillac has announced that its dedicated General Motors Formula 1 engine factory in Charlotte, North Carolina, will officially open on December 18, 2026. GM president Mark Reuss confirmed the date during the Autosport Business Exchange conference in New York. The facility represents a crucial milestone in GM's plan to build its own power unit and transition Cadillac into a full works team by 2029.
Cadillac entered Formula 1 in 2026 and currently relies on customer Ferrari power units while constructing its in-house engine program. On track, the team features veteran drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, though Cadillac remains without a point in its debut campaign with six rounds remaining in the season.
