Fernando Alonso criticized the driving standards of the lower grid after first-lap contact with Alex Albon damaged his Aston Martin during the United States Grand Prix. The incident at Turn 11 damaged the AMR26's floor and cost Alonso four positions, although he eventually recovered to finish 12th.

Alonso claimed the damaged floor cost him half a second per lap and compromised his car's turning ability. Stewards did not investigate the incident, with Albon explaining that three cars pinched together as they fought for position at the apex.
