George Russell made the perfect start to the Singapore Sprint, only for disaster to strike.

Mercedes driver George Russell suffered a scary crash on the opening lap of the rain-delayed Singapore Sprint. Russell had made a strong start from second to pass Max Verstappen for the lead at Turn 1, but spun at the final corner after touching a white line and applying power too early, hitting the pit wall.
Russell's car slid back across the Marina Bay circuit but was safely avoided by the remaining drivers. The accident handed the race lead back to Verstappen, while separate incidents involving Lance Stroll, Sergio Perez, Isack Hadjar, Franco Colapinto, and Arvid Lindblad led to multiple retirements and investigations.
