Liam Lawson didn't venture out during Q3 in Austin as team mate Arvid Lindblad goes into Sunday's race with a grid penalty.

Liam Lawson was held in the garage during Q3 at the United States Grand Prix to help Racing Bulls teammate Arvid Lindblad secure a higher qualifying spot. Lindblad carried a five-place grid penalty for a new internal combustion engine, meaning finishing ahead in Q3 minimized how far back he would start on Sunday's grid.
With both drivers locked into the top 10 behind the four leading teams, Lawson was classified in P10 without setting a time, while Lindblad claimed P9. Lawson admitted feeling some frustration at being denied a Q3 attempt despite having two fresh tire sets, but he acknowledged the tactical sense behind preserving tires and aiding his teammate.
